In this 13th blog post, I am using an "X-ray" process so I can see the "bones" of my research project argument. At this point, my research project is still a work-in-progress, so this post serves as a part of my revision process.
8. X-ray Summary: I think the bones of my research project is there and I am doing what I need to do but I still need to improve the execution of my work.

Our body's have their own immune system to protect against diseases and it does a pretty good job most of the time. It can keep pathogens out and when they get in the body, it can also get rid of them. Although we have our own immune system, vaccinations are still important because there are times wherein certain pathogens are able to overcome the immune system. This can cause serious consequences and can be very harmful to someone's health.
First off, how do vaccinations work? When a pathogen enters the body, it does things the body does not recognize. When a person is vaccinated, the same but weaker and safer type of pathogen is used. There are various types of vaccines, a part of the pathogen (like a leg for humans), a dead or inactivated form, a toxoid which is a chemically modified toxin from the microorganism that is no longer toxic but is still antigenic, and a weakened pathogen The vaccine basically prepares the body and trains it to fight a certain pathogen. Think of it like boxing training or sparing which prepares you for the real fight in the ring. The body cannot be prepared for types of serious diseases if it has never been exposed. It is very important to get vaccinated because it protects us and herd immunity also exists. This means that if you are vaccinated, you are also doing your part to protect other people who cannot be vaccinated. Examples of those people are very young children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and pregnant women. Being vaccinated decreases the likelihood of a disease spreading. To learn more about vaccines, visit Healthline Hello everyone! For this 10th blog assignment I will be discussing my research project while exploring the American Zeitgeist. According to Merriam-Webster a zeitgeist is “the general intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era."
